I had my 2nd appointment with Dr. Nariv yesterday so that I could go over the options and get a final, more realistic quote and get my 10,001 questions answered. I asked him to explain the options and the differences a bit more with me and we finally decided that we would go with Options 2 and 3. Dr. Nariv will keep 4 of my teeth on the bottom, root-canal them and crown them and then anchor dentures to those. For my tops, he’s removing all of them, adding 2 implants and then snap-on partials which will contain no plate across the roof of my mouth. They will literally be permanent up there, where as, denture adhesives would wear off after 8 hours.
I won’t be going without teeth as I originally thought. He says he’ll make me temporaries but they will be short enough that I shouldn’t gag. So, impressions will need to be had. This will so that I don’t have to miss a whole heap of work. I sorta felt a bit sick when he said that but he reassured me he has handled a lot of gaggers and knows I’ll get through it just fine. Some needles and a valium of sorts and I’ll have forgotten the whole thing.
Where I’m at right now is waiting for the final quote so I can find funding. Then I’m to see him 1 more time so he can go over the exact procedure and probably schedule my first initial “in-the-chair” appointment. YIKES! He’s going on holiday for 20 days so nothing will be done until he returns. He said he wants to be around for everything with me. He told me he didn’t want me to think I was bugging him or annoying him with phone calls or questions. He understands and for that, I’m so thankful!
I’m actually looking forward to starting.
