So I mentioned in my previous post that my bridge had broken off and a sharp piece was cutting into my tongue. I stopped at the dentist’s office on my way to work yesterday to pick up some dental wax that people with braces uses hoping I could use that to dull the sharp piece. When I got to work, I tried quite a few times to get a small piece to cover it but the wax was sticking to my fingers rather than the plastic bridge. I was frustrated and had to spend the night at work having other people “talk” for me. It was awful!

I got home that night and attempted again to put a piece of wax over the area. I finally managed a piece long enough to last me through the night although I woke up “chewing” so I suspect a part of it fell off and I was chewing it. But enough was left on to dull the sharpness on my tongue. The next morning I called the Dentist to see if I could get in to have Dr. Nirav file it down or do something to get the sharp edge off. They had a cancellation so I was to go in today at 12:40 after I finished work at 12. Perfect!

Uh oh….

Now I’m petrified! Dr. Nirav hasn’t been in my mouth without me being sedated so here I am shittin bricks! I’m scared as hell. I kept telling myself it’ll be a 2 sec thing. In and out, but I was still nervous. I reckon I wasn’t as nervous as going in for my implants or tooth pulling but still, all the same, I was nervous.

Lyn meets me there. 😀 So then we go in and he calls me in. I sit in the chair and he asks if I can leave it. I said not really, I have to go another 5 days yet and the sharp edge is really hurting my tongue and I can’t talk without pain. So he says he can put a temporary filling of sorts on it which would require him in my mouth and 20 secs with the blue light, would I let him do that. I said ok…. ok…. go for it! I did joke around a bit and the humour that comes out of me when I’m nervous makes me a chatterbox. Lyn joked saying I was better under sedation. Keeps me quiet! LOL!

So I laid there and let him do it. A few microseconds of panic thinking I was gonna gag but I mustered on and it was done! YAY!!! OMG!! I was so excited that I did it!

And wouldn’t you know it… the dang thing fell off an hour later. 

Anyway, he went and explained a bit more detail to me about what’s gonna be happening since I was coherent, and again, I left there in excitement!! So now instead of just having the new bridge put on next Tuesday, I’m going in an hour earlier to have the last bottom implant put in. Then I’ll be golden! So near but yet so far. I’ll still have to wait about 4 months before I get my permanent teeth but will be so great to have STRAIGHT teeth and CLEAN teeth!

But and accomplishment and a step forward for me on this long journey!
