Hiya Hiya Hiya,
Just thought I’d give everyone a brief update about how things are going so far. It’s been 5 days with my tops in. According to Lyn, I was told not to eat anything hard for a couple of months, so there goes that steak next week. **laughing** All good, it’ll be worth it.
So while I’m smiling ever so freely now and not worried about people staring I still have a small bit of trouble talking and saying my S’s… every other letter is fine. But I can’t understand why. Right now the tops are only held on with temporary glue and I feel like they could be a bit more snug against my gums. I had had my final two front teeth pulled out and I’m sure my gum needed to heal. I think I remember Lyn telling me that Dr. Nirav said my gum would fill in the gap at the top because, well, yeah, I can still produce air/wind and bubbles from my gum line. Might be the reason for still talking slightly funny. Or will I always talk funny? I dunno, but I wonder about that. Do gums “grow” back? I always thought gums just receded.
Anyway, I have a new job working in an electronics store – JB Hifi – for those in the states, it’s similar to Circuit City or Best Buy… TV’s, computers, cameras, phones, DVD’s, BluRays, stuff like that. I am working in the Camera department and absolutely LOVE it. Certainly in my elements there! So with my new smile I have NO problems talking to people, I smile at them when they come through the department and just feel… I dunno, awesome?
I go back to see Dr. Nirav in 2 days for about a half hour to get checked out, see how things are going, how it feels, how to take care of these properly, etc. Then I’m sure I’ll be making another appointment for the permanent glue to be applied (I think!). THEN steak? I wonder.
So that’s my brief update! I’m not too sure how many more posts I’ll be making, perhaps a couple more, but to those of you who are still in the midst of it all… hang in there!!!! You will feel SO much better when it’s all over and start to live a whole new life! The feeling is absolutely overwhelming!
