A Second Milestone

I initially thought I was going to the dentist today to discuss how to care for my implants and how to floss them. So I went without my little green frog that’s been my companion since day one. Got comfy in the chair and Dr. Nirav had to take bite impressions… biting a strip of paper of sorts. Being nervous made feel like gagging when the paper went in but I mustered through easily enough. Then had to bite to the left, to the right, forward etc and he noticed some slight variations. Said he could file down a few little areas. I said sure ok…. ***I have no frog to squish!*** Next thing I know Lyn flies out the door… where the heck is she going? 2 seconds later she’s coming back in through the door and out the other one.

Confused!

She comes back in a few seconds later with what she called an “emergency stuffie” for me to hold and squeeze, getting Stephanie all excited and panicky. Pretty funny! So here I am now with a teddy to squeeze while Dr. Nirav put the drill thingie on 3 of my bottom teeth to file down. Took like seconds and it was done. So another milestone for me to sit in the chair and have him look and tinker without meds. After which, I didn’t wanna get out of the chair. My nerves were calm and I was comfy so we just chatted about what’s to come.

Since my final top teeth were removed, my gums needed to heal and he knew they would receded a bit after healing. So my S’s will probably get a little worse until my next appointment for an adjustment. He asked if I still had dental wax and it was ok to use that to cover the gap and help improve my speech more.

So May 14th I go back for another set of impressions and he’ll try to make the small adjustments and then the permanent glue (I think) will be used.

We then stopped by the hairdressers so I could reschedule my hair cut and Nikki was just in awe over my new smile. She was SO impressed and so unbelievably excited for me. She said she could see a difference in my mannerism almost instantly from when she had met me 5 years ago. I got all shy then… she couldn’t stop saying “let me see..” then “let me see them again….” I couldn’t stop laughing!

Then Lyn said something……….

Apparently Dr. Nirav was planning to move to Sydney during my treatment. This was back when I was having the bone grafting part done. It was tentative. And Lyn had kept this from me knowing how devastated I would have been HAD he moved during my treatment. I would’ve ….. died. I would probably have flown to Sydney! But it fell through and he stayed! I don’t even wanna think about what would have happened. I’m so glad he didn’t move! He was meant to be my dentist. He was!

Well, fine…. I’ve kept something from him as well. Wanna know what it is? Stay tuned, you’ll find out VERY soon.
