Yesterday morning while I was brushing my teeth, it suddenly felt like my back molar on the top felt like it was loose. And I thought how could that be since my tops are all one piece? But I moved my tongue around, bit down but then it was fine. Later that evening, we ordered out and I was munching down on a hot chip (french fry) on the way home and chewing sorta felt a bit spongy. I mentioned it to lyn saying it just felt weird. When we arrived home I started eating a piece of chicken and then the other back molar on the top suddenly felt extremely loose. I stopped eating, and then I couldn’t talk so i swallowed what I had in my mouth and went into the bathroom. Sure enough the entire tops were loose. I sorta freaked out a bit. It was after 6 on a Friday and knew the dental office was closed. Lyn says, send Kristy a message via Facebook. So I did. She then said that he would have to see what time he could get there as his wife drives him in. He doesn’t drive. I said to Kristy, “I’ll go pick him up!”
Kristy got a hold of him somehow and next thing I know there’s a message on my Facebook news feed from Dr. Nirav saying… Please see me tomorrow at 9am! Nirav. [I had a little giggle!] and replied with “ok!”
I thought sure I could hold off til Monday because this morning when I woke up my tops seemed fine. Dr. Nirav met me at the dental office with his wife and we went into the room. I sat in the chair all nervous as usual, Lyn at work, no froggie, but I thought, I can do this! I can!!
Dr. Nirav pushes slightly on my tops and I hear a little click and sure enough they popped right off without much pressure, and pulled them out of my mouth. Here I am sitting in the chair without any tops in, and only my implants exposed. This had been the first time I had been coherent and not have any teeth. It felt BLOODY WEIRD! I was sorta freaking out in the chair, silently, trying not to talk because, well quite frankly, I had trouble. Dr. Nirav cleaned out the old glue from the tops, then air dried my implants and gums and reapplied the tops with fresh [temporary] glue. Then out came the dental pick and mirror to scrape off the excess glue from my teeth and gums. These are the tools that usually make me feel like I”m gonna gag!
I have to say… I actually did it! I managed the mirror and pick in my mouth! But then again Dr. Nirav knows how sensitive I am to tools in the mouth. He’s just awesome! He takes such good care.
So then he said my gums were healing very nicely and quite quickly. He though perhaps we could move my next appointment up a week or two but we’ll see how well this next set of temporary glue holds out. So I managed one week before they fell off. Can we go longer this round?
Anyway, I’m stoked!! My 3rd milestone but I reckon each milestone is getting closer to together. I’m calling it a half-milestone. So tonights dinner, I didn’t have that spongy feeling which is good. Now I’ll know that once I start feeling spongy chewing, they’re coming loose again. BUT I’LL BE READY! 😀
Ta-ta for now!
