SEPTEMBER 29 2025 | My Journey Continues

It’s been a long time. Over 10 years since my last dental appointment. A lot of what I ‘thought’ was done wasn’t actually done. My bottoms that I thought were permanent were actually not permanent. My dentist knew that there would come a day when I would need more work done.

What was holding me back was the cost. I’m still paying for the first round of work and now I have to go a second round of work costing just as much.

I decided to try and access my Superannuation (401k if your American and reading this). I applied on compassionate grounds and got approved for a total of 40k. I will be getting my current implants on the bottom (x2) removed and the remaining teeth pulled, possible bone grafting and then new implants with teeth on them. These will be permanent, unlike my tops.

My tops are relatively fine. There is one implant that has started to wiggle a bit so Dr. Nirav will be removing that post at some stage. But that’s another post all together.

So here we are now 10 years later. I’ve had my ups and downs with visits. Them getting longer and longer in-between, lots of job changes and financial problems (reduced wages) it’s been, ya know… life!

I’ve been having trouble with certain foods, the left side of my bridge that’s nestled on to anchor teeth have come loose. It’s difficult to eat and gets inflamed every now and again. I really cannot wait to get the ball rolling again.

In two days time I’ll be headed back into the chair for another impression but this time it’s the new equipment for scanning my gum line. I’m not exactly sure how that will work out with my gagging. I mean, it’s not a tray full of goop and I’m pretty sure he can remove the wand out of my mouth but he has decided he wants to sedate me… just in case. I’m find with that! 

I’m nervous yes but I know what to expect. It’ll be another long year ahead with procedures but this should be the final round.
