On day 3 of my oral surgery and extractions. Today I woke up at about 5am with a headache. Thought it was due to the bone grafting but later this morning realised that I hadn’t had coffee for 2 days. So what it turned out to be was caffein withdrawals. I downed 2 nurofen’s at 5am, then 2 Advils at 8am. Didn’t touch the headache. Had a strong cup of joe and within a half hour I was feeling great! LOL!

So I”m struggling to get used to this bone grafting thing because it was done under my nose where my top front teeth are. With my previous post I stated that 3 of my natural teeth were used. Now I don’t know if it’s the plastic bridge or the bone grafting or the stitches but it feels tight. I can’t squinch my nose, make any sort of nose movements, scratch my nose without taking extreme caution or it pulls up on the gum and HURTS! My eyes have taken on a new light raccoon look and my cheeks and upper lip are a bit swollen. Oh and let’s not forget how careful I need to be when I sneeze! In other words…. I’m a bit depressed about it all but there’s that little part of me that’s so happy I’m doing this and it’ll so be worth it in the end.

I’m getting “you look great” but I need to remind myself that these are NOT permanent and I’ll have proper implants and partials put in place later down the road. I’m truly not happy with these temps because they are wonky, crooked, weird looking and I can’t help to think I remind myself of a cartoon character. It’s true so don’t go saying…. “no they don’t”… because even my dentist was not happy with them. I can’t smile properly as my upper lip just doesn’t wanna move. Eesh!

Tried talking a lot today. Just to get in practice with the bridges (both tops and bottoms) but realised it’s not easy because of the stitches and the tightness at the top of my lip. Hold your top lip and talk… that’s what it feels like. LOL!!

Guess I”m just needing to vent. I just want the tightness to go away, the swelling to go down and my eyes to go pink again. I go back to work in 3 days. Hope I get a bit better sooner than later.
